Are you looking to upgrade your phone soon? It may be better to hold off on buying a new device for a few more months.
2022 has already released its share of powerful mobile devices —Samsung Galaxy S22, OnePlus 10 Pro, and the Oppo Reno 7 5G. However, new leaks and information about the latest phones are emerging.
Most upcoming phones are expected to sport the most powerful processors offered in the market. They are expected to potentially beat the already beefy, current array of Snapdragon 888s, A15 Bionic, and Exynos 2200.
The new devices will also feature 5G capabilities to keep up with the rising demand for 5G.
Let’s dive right into the top five upcoming smartphones in 2023.
Top 5 Smartphones Coming in 2023
1. Apple iPhone 14 Series
Looking at Apple’s iPhone release history, the company tends to do significant upgrades on every other phone.
2020 saw the squared-off iPhone 12, reminiscent of the iPhone 4 and 5 models; the iPhone 13 followed the same design, only with a smaller notch.
The new iPhone 14 models are expected to receive an even more significant design change. There may be hole punch cutouts instead of an entire notch above the display, like other Android phones. It gives users more screen space to enjoy their content.
Even more like Android phones, iPhone 14 can have USB-C capabilities, following the European Parliament’s directive to have all upcoming electronic devices with a USB-C port.
Besides design changes, iPhone 14 may have a brand-new Apple chipset in the form of a more powerful A16 Bionic chip and buttery smooth 120hz refresh rates on their LTPO displays.
2. Google Pixel 6A
Google is one of the few companies that design both the hardware and software of their smartphones, like Apple with iOS. The advantage is that they understand how to maximize the software that matches the phone—in this case, the latest Android OS version, Android 12.
The upcoming Google Pixel 6A is expected not to be an exception.
The device sports Google’s new Google Tensor processor, a chipset used in Google’s flagship models. It’ll also feature in-display fingerprint sensors, 128GB of base storage, and 6GB of RAM.
The Pixel A smartphones are Google’s champions in the budget phone arena, battling against Samsung’s Galaxy A series and Apple’s SE lineup.
3. Samsung Galaxy S23 Series
Although Samsung only recently released their Galaxy S22, rumors say they’re already gearing up for their next flagship—and it could be interesting.
TechRadar believes the Galaxy S23 could be the first smartphone to feature a 200-megapixel camera. Samsung may also construct the new smartphones with the latest Snapdragon processors, almost as powerful as Apple’s chips, instead of the current Exynos chips.
Samsung may release three S23 models—the base Galaxy S23 model, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. The latter is the most powerful of the bunch. It may feature S Pen stylus capabilities like the Galaxy S22.
4. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4
With their bold Z series, Samsung has been one of the companies leading the charge on foldable smartphones. Their mission is expected to continue well within 2023 with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4.
Although the early Galaxy foldable Z series devices were pricey, they may not be as steep in the future. Samsung has managed to drop the price of some of its foldable by $150. The price drop can mean that the subsequent Galaxy Z iterations may be more affordable.
5. Foldable iPhone
Apple may join the foldable phone market in 2023. According to a report from Ming-CHi Kuo, one of the most trusted Apple analysts, the Apple foldable is expected to be eight inches with a QHD+ flexible OLED display.
The device may also be manufactured using Apple’s silver nanowire touch technology, which is already used for the Apple HomePod.
Not much is known about the devices’ development stage, however. Despite this, it’s safe to say that Apple has some surprises up its sleeves that you won’t want to miss out on.
Wrapping Up
If you can hold out for just a little longer, it may be worth it for you to wait for the latest smartphones to hit the market.
The latest models give you the benefit of having the best and latest smartphone processing power, battery, and camera available. Having the latest models also means staying up to date on the latest software versions for longer.
