ASUS announced ESR1-511-X4TF, an all-new edge server solution for Centralized Unit (CU) and Distributed Unit (DU) applications, powered by 4th Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors with Intel vRAN Boost. Formerly codenamed Sapphire Rapids Edge Enhanced Compute (Sapphire Rapids EEC), these are designed for improving performance on virtualized radio access network (vRAN) applications. ESR1-511-X4TF is a high-performance, and TCO-optimized server solution for edge computing and O-RAN CU/DU deployment, delivering integrated acceleration with 2X capacity gains within the same power envelope, and up to twice the performance-per-watt to meet critical performance, scaling, and energy efficiency requirements.
Enhanced features with Intel vRAN Boost
ESR1-511-X4TF is a 1U, ultra-low-footprint server powered by the latest 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors with Intel vRAN Boost to deliver increased capacity with higher performance Intel vRAN Boost acceleration, including new acceleration for Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) channel-estimation workloads. With a front-access design and a depth of 430 mm, ESR1-511-X4TF accommodates up to two FH3/4L slots for GPU and FPGA cards for edge AI computing and O-RAN CU/DU deployment. Additionally, ESR1-511-X4TF benefits from carrier-grade design and extended operating temperatures. By integrating accelerators into a single CPU, ESR1-511-X4TF enables the reduction of solution power by removing additional DDR4 and PCI Express controllers onto a discrete accelerator.
A high-performance solution for edge computing and O-RAN CU/DU deployment
”We are thrilled to launch ESR1-511-X4TF, which is designed to meet the needs of our customers who are looking for a cost-effective, high-performance solution for edge computing and O-RAN CU/DU deployment,” said Richard Liu, General Manager of the ASUS Enterprise Solutions business unit. “With its innovative features and design, ESR1-511-X4TF is the perfect server for organizations looking to optimize their edge-computing infrastructure.”
ESR1-511-X4TF also supports 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors at the same time. Selected models include an integrated Intel vRAN Accelerator ACC100 card, as well as an Intel E810 time-synchronization module that’s created by ASUS. When selecting 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable series processors, the new server supports the QAT L1 acceleration function without sacrificing the PCI Express® 5.0 interface — empowering the ability to process O-RAN L1/L2 in one system.
ESR1-511-X4TF will be available for purchase through authorized ASUS dealers from Q2, 2023. For more information about the new server, please contact an ASUS representative.
